About Newburgh, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Newburgh is lovely, quiet and safe. That is why it is a favorite place for families to settle down and for people who enjoy a slow, easy pace of life. But, it is not boring or “dead.” There is much to explore, see, do, eat, and more. The local parks are gorgeous and the spring time brings amazing flowers and beautiful sunshiny afternoons. With each season, the locals see a new town unveiled as another version goes into a slumber. The constant metamorphosis means there is always a new hobby to try out. Sledding in the winter and swimming in the summer. Gardening in the spring and football in the fall…
It is the oldest town in Warrick County with plenty of history and culture to prove it. The area’s first paved toll road was built to move crops from Boonville to Newburgh. It was also the first town north of the Mason-Dixon Line to be brought down by the Confederate forces. Their location on the river made them targets and the confederate soldiers and Brig. General Adam R. "Stovepipe" Johnson crossed into town through the river and stole ammunition, and more.
Several blocks of Main Street are renovated to give off a historic village "river town" vibe that brings out both visitors and residents for shopping, walking around on foot, enjoying meals or just taking in the atmosphere. There are number of boutiques, antique shops, and restaurants along the riverfront. Many of Newburgh's famous buildings can be found in the Original Newburgh Historic District and includes notable representative examples of Italianate, Greek Revival, and Classical Revival style architecture. The downtown area is the perfect place for an evening stroll on a balmy summer evening or a lovely meal by the river as the flowers bloom in spring.
Each summer, Newburgh hosts the Wine, Art & Jazz Festival, Fiddler Fest, the Strawberry Festival, and more. The events in the area are more than just parties. They are local cultural celebrations with fun, fellowship and a friendly atmosphere that brings in visitors and makes locals never want to leave. Each fall, as the weather cools, "Ghost Walks" are held downtown. On the spooky evening walks, visitors and locals can learn of the town's history of mining, the Underground Railroad, and more. In December, there is a Christmas celebration, of course. There are over sixty people dressed in period costume every year and the community enjoys food and drinks, carolers and street musicians, trolley tours, photos with Santa, and much more.
